Obituary for
Roger L. Prévost
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Roger L. Prévost at Pioneer Manor, Sudbury, Ontario on May 19th 2022 at 97 years of age. Born on August 30th, 1924 in Noëlville, Ontario, he was the beloved husband of Jeannine Prévost (Durette) who predeceased him by only 26 days. Married in Noëlville in 1947, Roger and Jeannine were to celebrate 75 years of marriage on May 26, 2022. For many years they made MacFarlane Lake their home. Roger started his career with Brewers Retail in 1953 and worked in several Sudbury locations. In 1979, they moved to Noëlville after Roger was promoted to Manager of the new Noëlville Beer Store. He retired in 1986. Roger enjoyed spending time with his family at the camp on Nepewassi Lake and in his woodshop where he created furniture and gifts for friends and family. Known for his active lifestyle and his community involvement, he enjoyed golfing, curling and fundraising for various causes. Proud member of the Knights of Columbus, he became Sir Knight Roger L. Prévost in 1988. Roger and Jeannine returned to Sudbury in 2013 where they became residents and members of the Red Oak Villa family. Roger will be greatly missed by his six children: Guy (Denise), Paulette (Yves), Pauline (Art), Marc (Claudette), Francine (Ken) and Jacqueline (Tom). He was the proud Pépère to 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Phidime and Onile (Jean) Prévost. Roger was a brother to Rose-May and Gérald. Predeceased by his brothers and sisters Annette, Odilas, Simone, Jean-Louis, Adolias, Robert, Bernadette, Réjeanne and Joffre. The family wishes to thank the caring staff at the Red Oak Villa and the Pioneer Manor for their devotion and compassion. Donations in Roger’s memory can be made to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada or to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada. Funeral Mass to be celebrated at Église St-Jean de Brébeuf, Sudbury, Ontario on May 24th , 2022 at 11 a.m. Masks are encouraged.
C’est avec une grande tristesse que la famille annonce le décès de Roger L. Prévost au Manoir des Pionniers, Sudbury, Ontario le 19 mai 2022 à l’âge de 97 ans. Né le 30 août 1924 à Noëlville, Ontario, il était l’époux bien-aimé de Jeannine Prévost (Durette) l’a prédécédé de 26 jours. Mariés à Noëlville en 1947, Roger et Jeannine devaient célébrer 75 ans de mariage le 26 mai 2022. Pendant de nombreuses années, ils ont habité dans la région de MacFarlane lake. Roger a commencé sa carrière chez Brewers Retail en 1953 et a travaillé dans plusieurs emplacements de Sudbury. En 1979, ils ont déménagé à Noëlville après que Roger ait été promu gérant du nouveau magasin de Noëlville. Il a pris sa retraite en 1986. Roger aimait passer du temps avec sa famille au camp sur le lac Nepewassi et dans son atelier de menuiserie où il créait des meubles et des cadeaux pour les amis et la famille. Reconnu pour son style de vie actif et son implication communautaire, il aimait le golf, le curling et les activités de prélèvements de fonds pour diverses causes. Fier membre des Chevaliers de Colomb, il est devenu Sire Chevalier Roger L. Prévost en 1988. Roger et Jeannine sont retournés à Sudbury en 2013 où ils sont devenus résidents et membres de la famille Red Oak Villa. Roger manquera beaucoup à ses six enfants : Guy (Denise), Paulette (Yves), Pauline (Art), Marc (Claudette), Francine (Ken) et Jacqueline (Tom). Il était le fier Pépère de 13 petits-enfants, 19 arrière-petits-enfants et 7 arrière-arrière-petits-enfants. Il a été prédécédé par ses parents Phidime et Onile (Jean) Prévost. Roger était le frère de Rose-May et Gérald. Prédécédé par ses frères et soeurs Annette, Odilas, Simone, Jean-Louis, Adolias, Robert, Bernadette, Réjeanne et Joffre. La famille tient à remercier le personnel attentionné du Red Oak Villa et du Manoir des Pionniers pour leur dévouement et leur compassion. Des dons à la mémoire de Roger peuvent être faits à la Fondation canadienne des tumeurs cérébrales ou à la Société Alzheimer du Canada. La messe de funérailles aura lieu à l’église St-Jean de Brébeuf, Sudbury, Ontario le 24 mai 2022 à 11 h. Les masques sont encouragés.
