Obituary of Robert Reed
Reed, Robert Francis
Passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice, London on March 26, 2022, at the age of 86. He leaves behind his wife and best friend of 63 years, Charleen. Proud Father of his 3 girls Pattie Kelsey (Dave), Lisa Presedo (Pablo), and Paula Anderson (Randy). Papa to Phil, Heather (Jamie), Rachel (Joel), Joel (Alyssa), Stephanie, Natalie, Jake (Lauren), Kaitlyn and Brooklyn. He also leaves behind 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.
The time spent with Papa was always memorable. The grandchildren have fond memories of Papa taking them fruit and vegetable picking, working on small projects together and knowing he was cheering them on at various sporting events. His dog Lizzie was a great companion over the past 9 years. He is survived by his sister-in-law Marlene Reed, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob is predeceased by his siblings, Ken Reed, Kay Campbell, and Sharon Beauclerc.
Dad was born in Peterborough on October 9, 1935. His fondest childhood memories were working on his grandmother’s farm with his Uncle Mike. Dad was a teacher and principal for over 50 years. In his professional and personal life, Dad used every moment to be a teaching opportunity. He loved all kinds of sports including baseball, golf, hockey and bowling. At the age of 45, he started running. He qualified and ran the Boston Marathon in 1987 at the age of 51.
Dad was a collector of many things. When he was 10 years old, he won first prize at the local fair for his matchbook collection. He continued with his matchbook hobby and at one time had over 175,000 in his collection. Special thanks to all the Doctors, Nurses and Caregivers who provided exceptional care to Bob over the past several years. A private family service has taken place. Online condolences can be made to London Cremation Services at www.londoncremation.com
Our Dad loved milkshakes his entire life. In the last few weeks his eyes would light up when his granddaughter arrived with a milkshake. So, if you knew our sweet Dad, go have a milkshake in honour of him, take some time to invest in someone, and learn something new today.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Robert

  1. Dear Charleen and family – my sincere condolences for your loss..
So sorry for the passing of a good running friend and fine athlete who willingly shared so many miles and hours on the road teaching and helping London Pacers Running Club members train and qualify for the 42.2 km Boston Marathon.
Many fond memories of meeting in Springbank Park and at Tim Hortons in St Thomas for the run to Port Stanley and back followed with coffee and do-nuts and of course the telling of stories and the offering of many solutions for world problems.
A highlight in March 24,1989 was the opportunity to run a Good Friday group run from the Jumbo Elephant site in St Thomas to London and later relaxing in the hot tub at Rob’s house.
Another highlight was in June 1989 when a group of London Pacers traveled to Brantford for a unique 9.9 km Gretzky road race. Wayne was there as was some of Rob’s family; Lisa won her race and was awarded a Wayne Gretzky autographed hockey stick and before leaving Brantford the hockey stick was transferred to Rob and on to a grandson.
Rob — thanks for the memories – you will be missed!
    Best regards.
    Lorne Duquette
