91 years, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 4, 2022 At Erie Shores Hospice in Leamington. Dear husband of Shirley (Nelson) for 69 years. Dear father of Jim (Denise), the late Douglas (1993) and the late Richard (2017) and his wife Jo Ann (Srigley). Proud grandfather of Luke (Judy), Jerome (Madeline), Stephanie (Blair), Jesse, Nick (Kristie), Kyle (Holley), Victoria (Josh), Tammy, Doug (Lisa), Will (Stacy), (Cassandra), Jill (Justin), Brittany (Chris), 16 great grandchildren ands 6 great great grandchildren. Predeceased by brother Harold and wife Audrey and sister Velma McIntosh and husband Don. Brother-in-law of Douglas Nelson (late Marion), Mary Nussey and husband Howard, Bev Bryan and husband Lyle. Special uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. Bob lived his whole life on the family farm where he was born. He was a farmer and also retired from Union Water System. He was a proud historian and co-author of two books with Dorothy St. John. He belonged to the Leamington Mersea Historical Society, Comer Historical Society, Es County Steam and Gas Museum. He spent many hours with his cider press and rope maker going to fairs and shows teaching children about the pioneer days. This led him to attending schools with pioneering artifacts. Bob was most proud of the stagecoach’s and prairie schooner he built which he went in parades with his grandchildren. He enjoyed wood working and operating his sawmill for many years. Auction sales and coffee shops were his passion where he would visit with his friends. He was truly proud of teaching and mentoring his grandchildren. Bob was voted Citizen of the Year in Leamington in 2009. He was a man of Faith and read his Bible five times throughout his lifetime. Visiting at Reid Funeral Home and Reception Centre, 14 Russell St., Leamington (519-326-2631) on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 from 2-4 pm and 6 pm until time of Memorial Service to Celebrate Bob’s life at 8 pm. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Leamington Historical and Mersea Historical Society or the Tilbury West Agricultural Museum would be appreciated.
