Obituary of Robert Ellis Powell
With heavy hearts the family of Robert “Bob” Powell announce his passing peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 15, 2022.
Bob was predeceased by his loving wife of 44 years Myra (Northcott), sisters Elaine Miles and Marion Lambert. His parents Clayton and Sadie (Payne) Powell.
Bob is survived by his children: Kimberly Lanigan (Paul)of Rothesay, Karen Powell of Saint John, Robert Powell (Kaylee) of Saint John; Grandchildren: Christopher (Taylor) and Myra Lanigan, Dylan and Gabriel Powell and their mother Giselle. As well as several nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Bob was an electrician by trade, retiring with federal government as Operations Manager of the Saint John Airport. Starting his career at Gander Airport, moving onto Goose Bay Airport, Charlottetown Airport and Wabush Airport, before moving to Saint John.
After his retirement from the Federal Government he went on to work at Emmerson Pools for several years ending at Staples.
After the loss of his wife Bob took up the hobby of Photography which became a passion for him. He loved cooking and travelling and enjoying a good glass of scotch.
In lieu of flowers , donations in Bob’s memory can be made to Saint David’s United Church Memorial Fund, Heart Function Clinic-Saint John Regional Hospital, NB Lung Association or The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (506-849-2119) with visitation on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, from 10 – 12 PM, and will be followed by a private service at 1PM. The family has provided the opportunity for those unable to attend the funeral to participate via livestream, to access the livestream please visit Bob’s obituary page. Due to Covid-19 health measures placed on indoor gatherings by the Government of New Brunswick, all those 12 and older attending the visitation and service will be required to show proof of vaccination and a piece of government-issued ID or proof of medical exemption.
