Roberta Alice Kalesniko (Webb) passed away on November 24, 2022 at the age of 84.
She was born in Trail, BC on September 15, 1938. The second child of Alfred and Amy Webb, she grew up in Trail, Fruitvale and Montrose, graduating from J. L. Crowe High School in 1956.
Roberta married Gaston Kalesniko in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho on July 27, 1957 after a brief courtship that began at a dance in Ymir, BC. They were happily married for 64 years until Gaston’s death in 2021.
Working briefly at the Bank of Montreal, she quit work to concentrate on raising her family. In 1972, she went back to work at the Montrose Post Office working her way up to Postmaster. She loved working there and was always happy to see her customers and would greet them with a warm smile, always patient and understanding with their requests. When Roberta retired in 2000, she said, “What I will miss the most are my customers.” and even in old age as she forgot customers names she always remember their post box numbers.
Roberta spent her retirement at the house that she and Gaston built in Beaver Falls, BC. She loved reading, gardening, aerobics, playing piano and for a time volunteering at the Fruitvale Library.
Roberta was a loving daughter, sister, wife and mother. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was a positive influence to her family. She was a believer in dreams and encouraged her sons to follow their passions. She was the foundation of her family and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her three sons; Mark (Jennifer), Michael and Glen, her granddaughter Misha and her sister Diane MacDonald. She is predeceased by her husband, Gaston Kalesniko, her parents Alfred and Amy Webb, eldest brother Arthur and her younger brother, William.
There will be a private service. Kole Roth of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence.
