Robert Willard Gambling 2022

Robert Willard Gambling, age 90, passed away peacefully from natural causes at Ed’s House Hospice in Cobourg.
Bob was born and raised in England. He was an automotive engineer working at Standard Automotive where he met the love of his life, Dorothy. The pair immigrated to Canada in 1964 and settled in Windsor, Ontario.
They had 5 children, Paul, Susan, Martin, Jacqueline and Steven.
He and Dorothy provided their family with a spectacular upbringing, with the opportunity and support to be able to do anything they wanted. From camping for months on end, to go karting and travelling with a marching band, they did it all as a family.
Bob was strong willed, determined and had a great sense of humor. He encouraged you to excel at what you wanted in life and to be accountable for your actions.
As an engineer, he was also the fixer of anything mechanical, and enjoyed wood working.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Canadian Cancer Society or Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre.
He Is Gone
You can shed tears that the is gone
Or you can smile because he has lived
You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back
Or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see him
Or you can be full of the love that you shared
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday
You can remember him and only that he is gone
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on
You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back
Or you can do what he would want: smile,
open your eyes, love and go on.
