Shandala, Robert “Bob”
July 20, 1929 – November 11, 2022
Bob has moved from his earthly home in Erinsville to his new home with Jesus, which he would tell you is much better than Mexico, where he spent 40 plus winters.
Predeceased by his loving wife Betty (2003), Bob will be missed dearly by his daughters Vicki Marshall (Mit) and Heidi Shandala. Cherished grandfather of Casey Distenfano (Paul), Erin Boisvert (Aaron), Carrie King (Melvin), Graham King, Justin King, and the late Alexander, great grandfather of Colton, Lyric, Grayson, Gage, Wyatt, Briar, Callum, Allsun and Kai, great great grandfather of Payton and Carter. Brother of the late Maxine, Helen, and Frank and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
He was a loving family man, always doing everything he could for his family and grandkids.
Bob worked at Victory Soya Mills in Toronto most of his life but really if he could’ve been we think he would’ve been a teacher. He loved to teach and instruct on the proper way to do just about everything and he truly knew how to do it right.
He loved to fish and became an avid rock collector which in time led him into collecting gemstones and later into jewelry making. He became an avid silversmith and sometimes dabbled in gold. He became instrumental in getting the Kingston Lapidiary Club renewed and taught silversmithing well into his 80’s, and loving every minute of it. In his younger years he enjoyed furniture refinishing, his pieces always came out perfect. He also loved to make wooden airplanes, something his grandsons can attest to.
He was an honest, clean living, kind, wise, and gentle man all his life, and was loved and appreciated by everyone who knew him. He had a sharp mind and was a clear thinker right to the very end. A true example of a life well lived.
