Robert James Storie Monday February 21st 2022

Robert “Bob” James Storie
May 24, 1945-February 21, 2022
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Storie on February 21, 2022, in his 77th year after a lengthy illness. Bob was the son of Gladys (nee Olsh) and Lindsay Storie both predeceased and brother to John “Jack” Storie (wife Margaret) and Patricia St. Jean (husband Raymond) all predeceased. He is survived by his best friend and wife of 52 years Elizabeth “Betty” Storie (nee Svarckopf) and by his most cherished son Christopher (wife Joni) Storie. He was the patriarch of the small but extremely close knit Storie family. He will be truly missed by his nephews Jonathan (wife Andrea), Jason (wife Caroline), John (wife Maria), Patrick (wife Rhonda), Robert and his niece Raymonde predeceased. He was a great uncle to Matthew, Phillip, Kirha, Jordan, Jenna, Jack and Poppy. He was a special friend to Diana, Diane, Barry, Mike, Ed, Keith, and Harald. He retired from Inco in 1998 from the Winding Shop which allowed him to devote his time to a variety of volunteer activities. He was a driver for the Red Cross, and a volunteer at the Inner City Home. He was actively involved with the Ostomy Support Group and hosted their famous yearly BBQ and swim. Wherever he was, he brought humour, joy and energy and gained many new friends as a result. He was a devoted member of Nickel Lodge #427 AF&AM having served as worshipful master. He was one of the founding members of the Tuesday Java Club and helped prepare countless meals there. During the past year his health began to spiral downward, but he always approached these challenges with humour and strength. He received exceptional care and compassion from the staff at Health Sciences North, St. Joseph’s Continuing Care, and most recently Pioneer Manor. A special thank you to Dr. Garrioch his long-time family physician, Dr. Monique St. Martin and Dr. Maurice St. Martin who provided excellent and compassionate care. For those who knew him he was Bob to the end. His passing leaves a void in our lives, but he will continue to inspire us to live as he did, with humour and strength. At his request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury on Friday, May 20, 2022, at 11am under the auspices the Nickel Lodge #427 AF&AM with words of remembrance to follow and a reception. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. If you wish to support a charity that was close to Bob’s heart, please consider donating to Inner City Home, the Shriner’s Hospital for Sick Children, or our local care facility St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Center.
