Obituary for Robert G. Root
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts to announce the sudden passing of Robert (Bob) Gordon Root on Sunday, January 2, 2022. He was born on June 13, 1946 to Gordon and Pauline Root. In 1969 he married the love of his life, Susan. Their love pursued for 52 years. Bob was an amazing, loving and dedicated father to their children Tracy (Leif) and Mark, a wonderful grandfather to Jeremy (Kailey) and very happy to be a great grandfather to Layla who brought him extreme amounts of joy the last few years. He was a brother to Mickey, Ken and Sylvia (Jerry) and has many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Robert Root worked for Dow Chemical for over 40 years. He worked all day in the plant and studied relentlessly in the evenings to obtain his accounting credentials. He continued to work for Dow as an accountant and eventually ended his successful career as a Finance Director. He thoroughly enjoyed his career, made many great friends at work and cherished his time with them.
Everyone who knew him understands his kind ways to people and animals alike. Bob definitely had a great sense of humour and was often cracking jokes and singing, regularly repeating what someone just said to him in song. He enjoyed the music of Elvis and had a great love for antique cars, especially Cadillac’s, and had a few throughout the years. He also loved to build houses which is a trait bestowed upon him by his father.
We are sure he is cruising in a really amazing car with Elvis and they are both singing with the angels.
A private family-only memorial will be held at Needham-Jay Funeral Home in Petrolia.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the SPCA/ASPCA and St. Jude’s Hospital, both of which, he donated to for many years.
