It is with heavy hearts and much sadness that we announce that Robert (Bob) Edward Innes, 91 Years old, formerly of Newburg, passed away at the Carleton Manor October 11, 2022
Bob was born April 29th, 1931, in Birch Ridge, Victoria County to the late James and Violet Innes.
Bob is survived by his 6 children, Lorilee MacFarlane (Bobby) of Woodstock, Natalie Rideout (Carl) of Woodstock, Peter Innes (Cheryl) of Newburg, Joseph Innes (Marie) of Woodstock, Corey Innes (Stacey) of Woodstock, Billie-Jo Orser (Wade) of Newburg.
Bob also had 12 Grandkids, 14 Great Grandkids (plus two more on the way!) whom he loved dearly, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Also survived by his siblings John Innes (Nusha Collins) of Ontario, and Isabell Brideau (Bill) of British Columbia and sister-in-law Joyce Foster, Rockland NB
Besides his parents Bob was also predeceased by his wife Gretchen, brothers Melvin Wright, Donnie Innes, and Chester Innis, and sisters Margaret Innes, Jaunita Bennett, and Dorothy Fuller.
Bob spent his younger years working in the woods to earn his living, moved on to working on a few farms. Bob finished out his working career with the department of transportation, retiring from there to work his small piece of farmland in Newburg.
He was always content to sit and look at nature, whether it was a field or a mountain off in the distance, he was content with what he had and would gladly offer you a helping hand…
One of his favorite sayings was “Better off having a little bit and keeping it than to go too big and lose it!” We certainly heard him say this on more than a few occasions.
One of his grandchildren said the Randy Travis song, He walked on water, reminded him of his grandfather and if you take the time to listen to it you probably will agree.
Bob had that way of connecting with everyone he came into contact with, old friends, new acquaintances, he had time for everyone! If success was measured by how much a person was loved, then Bob Innes was indeed one of the richest men in history!
A very special thank you to the staff at Carleton Manor, where Bob resided for the past 14 months. Thanks for not only caring for him but also for being a friend! You certainly made an impression with him.
There will be no public visitation or Funeral Service.
Private graveside service will be held Sunday Oct 16, 2022.
If so desired, donations to the Carleton Manor in Robert’s memory would be appreciated by the family.
