BOCOCK, Robert Bruce ‘Rob’
Rob has filed his final Flight Plan and has “FLOWN WEST”
It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of Robert Bocock (ROBO); husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. After a lengthy illness, Rob succumbed to his illness on Wednesday, May 18, 2022.
Rob was a very accomplished individual who lived life to the fullest on his terms. First and foremost, Rob flew for TCA/Air Canada on the Canadair North Star, Super Connie, and then became Captain on the Vanguard, DC-8, L1011, the 747 100/200 series and retired on the 747-400. Upon retirement he took on flying corporate jets for two major corporations – being the Chief Pilot.
Rob was with the Water Ski Federation as a competitor and later Chief boat driver. He was part of the WaterSki team show at the Montreal Exposition 1967. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2009. He was also a level 4 Ski Instructor, a member of Georgian Peaks and later taught at Blue Mountain. During the summer he did tours on the Segway at Blue Mountain. He played minor hockey up to Junior A level and played for the Edmonton Oil Kings and continued with old timers hockey in Montreal and Toronto. Rob loved motorcycles and rode until the age of 82.
Rob will be dearly missed by his wife Micheline, son Mark (Mark’s fiancé Ari), his brother Terry and sister-in-law Kathleen, cousins Billy, John and his wife Jenny, nephews and nieces Gordon and Susie, Bruce and Christine, Linda and by his closest friends. We are thankful to Doctor Kotchekov (RVH), Doctor J. Greyling and Doctor Etermadi (CGMH). The nurses and home care workers were caring and most helpful during this difficult time.
Friends are invited to join his family for a Memorial Service at the Carruthers and Davidson Funeral Home – Stayner Chapel, 7313 Highway 26, Stayner on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at 10:30 a.m., officiated by Reverend Frank Beasley. The ceremony will also be Webcast. The link is available under the Photos & Video tab. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Georgian Triangle Humane Society would be greatly appreciated.
