Miller, Robert (Bob) Nelson
1932-2022
Bob, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on October 12, 2022 after a brief and courageous battle with an aggressive form of cancer. He had just celebrated his 90th birthday. Bob was born in Peace River and resided there; as a young man he headed west to Vancouver Island to try his hand at logging. He later returned to Edmonton where he met his loving wife Frieda on the dance floor of the Rainbow Room in 1954. The Alberta oilfield offered a good living for Bob until 1963. Having married Frieda in 1956 and having three children, Randy, Rhonda and Darrell, they moved to Wetaskiwin from Caroline to settle. It was here Bob got his first job in car sales at Tom Philipson Chev/Olds. Bob worked for all the GM dealerships in Wetaskiwin and was well known to many. Bob went on to be one of the top performing salesman in Alberta for General Motors. He worked the last 10 years of his career as fleet sales manager at Don Wheaton Chev/Olds in Edmonton. Along the way Bob made many friends and joined the volunteer fire department where he served for many years. He was a private pilot, loved to fish, snowmobile and camp with family and friends. In his retirement he loved to shoot pool and go for coffee with his buddies, he was an avid reader and loved to spend time with friends and family. Bob was predeceased by his father, Joseph; mother, Thelma; and his infant sister, Ester. He leaves behind his loving wife of 66 years, Frieda; son, Randy Miller; daughter, Rhonda Mann; son, Darrell (Sabrina) Miller; son-in-law, Danny Mann; grandchildren, Shelley Mann and Keith (Jamie) Hixon; great- grandchildren, Kinslee and Jett. He will be missed by all who knew him. A service will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Baker Funeral Chapel, Wetaskiwin, with burial to follow in Warburg Union Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.. Service will be live streamed.
