It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of
Robert (Bob) Buchanan after a short battle with cancer on

Grand-father of Natalie Black (Jonathan), Nikki LeBlanc
(Alexandre), twin grand-sons, Kyle Kennedy (Sarah) and
Nicholas Kennedy (Alison) and twins, Ethan and Megan Wilkie. He
recently became Great Grand-father to Jack Boudreau and Wynter
Black. He is also survived by his sister Beverly Black
(Wayne) and his brother Gary Buchanan(June) both of Riverview,

Philip Beeler (Irene). He also leaves behind many nieces and
nephews. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Muriel
Northcott and her husband Andy. He truly enjoyed all of the
family dogs, but none was as special as his beloved Oliver who
accompanied him on many car rides and late night
walks.
After graduation, Bob went to work for CN in the Accounting
Dept. and continued to work there as Payroll Accountant Atlantic
Region until his retirement in 1991. His attention to detail was
meticulous and was reflected in both his professional and personal
life.
Bob personified the noun “Volunteer”. He
was eager and reliable and was involved with many organizations during
his work career as well as in retirement. As a young man, he
was involved with Boy Scouts of Canada and he held many positions at
the District, Provincial and National levels. He was awarded
many distinguished awards during his 30 year involvement with the
Scouting movement.
He was also a member of the Moncton Volunteer Firefighters
Association for 39 years and retired in 2000 as a Captain. He was
proud to serve his community and continued to be involved after his
retirement by providing information and memorabilia to the Moncton
Fire Department Historical Society. He was the recipient of
a Long Service Medal as well as many other
distinctions.
In his retirement, he worked tirelessly as a volunteer with
the Capital Theatre, the Moncton Hospital, CN Pensioners Association,
and Greater Moncton Probus Club. He had a strong sense of community
and took great pride in his work while contributing to the various
organizations to whom he tirelessly gave his
time.
Special thanks to all of the compassionate professionals in
