November 9, 1943 – April 22, 2022
Passed away at Norfolk General Hospital on Friday, April 22, 2022 in his 79th year. Beloved husband of Elizabeth for 59 years. Cherished father and father-in-law of son Todd (Heather) and daughter Christy (Michael). Loving Papa Rick to 4 grandchildren Bryn (Jessica), Brock (Lisa) Elizabeth (Andrew) and Michaela. Richard leaves behind his sister Frances Engell. He was predeceased by his brother Gerry. Richard will be deeply missed by many friends and acquaintances. He was a dedicated teacher beginning his 34-year career at the young age of 19. He worked for the Brantford and Grand Erie Board for those years. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and took several special education courses. Richard affected the lives of many students who still after all the years would call for advise or just to say hello! Following cremation, friends are invited to call at The Ferris Funeral Home, 214 Norfolk St., S., Simcoe, Ontario on Friday, April 29, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Those wishing to remember Richard may make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
