Richard “Rick” Daryl Thiem
1969 – 2022

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rick (Richard) Daryl Thiem of Lacombe, Alberta. Rick passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on May 6, 2022 at the age of 53 years, following a brief illness.
Rick was born on February 15, 1969 in Red Deer, Alberta, to Dennis and Teresa Thiem. He grew up in Lacombe, graduating from Lacombe Composite High School in 1987. Many of Rick’s interests included camping, motorbikes, photography, travelling and cooking. Throughout all his years, he had a love for books (favourite author Stephen King). The most favourite pastime for Rick was watching the animated T.V. series “South Park” as well as Sci-Fi and Fantasy movies.
Rick obtained his license for Massage Therapy after graduating from the Alberta Institute of Massage on July 7, 2000. His soft heart, gentleness, warmth and tenderness contributed to the well-being of his clients. His chosen career always left him with an inner sense of self-satisfaction, pride and fulfillment.
Rick is survived by three sons, Justin, Tristan and Treydon; granddaughter Hailey; his mother Teresa Thiem of Lacombe, AB. He is also survived by his two brothers, Darren (Lorie) of Red Deer, AB., and Sheldon “Shab” (Chrissy) of Sedgewick, AB.,, nephews Christopher and Matthew; niece Kaylee Thiem; and his grandmother Kathy Wolfe of Saskatoon, SK., as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Also left to mourn his loss are his three very dear and special friends, Veronica Forsman, Darci Randall-Shave and Murray Fuhrer. Rick is predeceased by his father Dennis in May 2018, grandparents Albert and Olive Thiem and Earl and Kay Klammer.

Funeral services will be held at Wilson’s Funeral Chapel, 6120 Highway 2A Lacombe, AB, on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 2:00p.m. Graveside service to follow at the Lacombe Fairview Cemetery.
