Richard’s Obituary
Taylor, Richard Kenneth – Age 50 of Lawrencetown Annapolis County. Father, husband, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, friend… bold, charismatic, and determined are some of the words that come to mind when we think of Richard Kenneth Taylor who passed away suddenly Saturday, February 26, 2022.
Richard recently celebrated his 50th birthday in true Richard fashion…good friends, good music, and a ‘few’ drinks.
Known for his work ethic, Richard was mowing lawns at the age of 10, farming, working at Britex as a young adult and later Valley Industries, finally coming full circle back to self-employment. Together, with his wife Lisa, he achieved his dream of successfully running his own sawmill and logging business.
Richard worked hard and he played hard. Playing darts, card games beginning in his early years with his grandparents, trapping, camping at Milbury Lake and beyond, talking on the phone, and most recently going out in the side by side with Lisa on adventures with friends and family were some of his hobbies. His favorite hobby though, was keeping track of his girls Elizabeth and Rachel. He beamed when he spoke of them and loved them unconditionally.
Richard lived life to the fullest; he was quick to react, laughed from his belly, was always up for a drink of rum, and never shy to share his thoughts. He had a tough exterior, but those that knew him well knew he cared deeply for those he loved.
His parents, Richard and Norma Taylor, and sister, Jacqueline (Jim), will miss him terribly as will his very large extended family. Married nearly 25 years, Richard and Lisa raised two beautiful daughters and built a happy life together on their own terms. Richard left us far too early; there was still work to be done, fun to be had, and memories to make, but Richard will not be forgotten as we never forget the ones we love.
A memorial service in Richard’s memory will take place at the Lawrencetown Firehall on Wednesday, March 23rd at 2pm. Masking and hand sanitizing are strongly recommended. Donations in Richard’s memory may be made to the Lawrencetown or Middleton Legion branches or to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
