Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Richard Roy announces his peaceful passing at the Nipissing Serenity Hospice in North Bay on February 18th 2022 at the age of 72.
Richard was a proud and loving father to Robert of Garden Village, Sara of Orillia, Julian Stevens and family of Garden Village, Gerard (Natalie) of Hanmer and Alain (Helene) of Field. He was also a proud grandfather to Amanda, Andre, Mason, Terra, Brea, Ciaran and Justine.
He is survived by his siblings Colette Fortin (late Isidore) of Field, Raymonde Bennett (late Wayne) of Sudbury, Rejean Roy (Jeannine) of Sturgeon Falls and Gislaine Bruyere (Gilles and late Archie) of Chelmsford. He is predeceased by his parents Fernand and Lucille (nee St-Georges) and his brother Robert.
Richard was proud of his career as an underground miner, where he worked for 39 years for INCO. He also loved working in the bush, and cutting firewood on his beloved David Brown Tractor.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Nipissing Serenity Hospice in North Bay, for their support and amazing care.
Remembrance donations to the Nipissing Serenity Hospice in North Bay would be greatly appreciated.
Cremation will take place. A memorial to celebrate Richard’s life is planned for a later date. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to McGuinty Funeral Home.
