Richard Gerald Murphy 2022

It is with heavy hearts, the family of Richard Gerald Murphy, husband of Betty (Hubbard) Murphy of Sunny Corner, announces his peaceful passing at home on May 21, 2022 at the age of 70, surrounded by his ever-loving family, after a long battle with cancer.
Richard was a trucker, machine operator and devoted employee of any company blessed enough to have him. One of his greatest career achievements was having been hauling the girders and helping construct the Confederation Bridge to PEI. He took such pride and interest in that job and in any job in which he was involved. He continued his hard work with Sutherland’s Excavating in which he eventually retired because of health issues.
Richard was a man of God and attended St. James Roman Catholic Church in Sevogle, NB. His family was his pride and joy. He loved having them around every chance he got and couldn’t imagine life without them.
Richard is survived by: Loving wife of 50 years, Betty; daughter: Nicole Lee (Jamey); sons: Eugene Murphy (Sheila) and Louie Murphy (Emily); grandchildren who he adored and loved to tease: Cody and Madison Lee, Caroline and Sterling Murphy and Piper Murphy all of Sunny Corner, NB; sister: Suzanne Hubbard (Kevin) and brothers: Jimmy Murphy (Paula) and Paddy Murphy, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Richard was predeceased by his parents: Eugene (1968) and Carolyn (Foran) (1986) Murphy, his in laws: Gordon and Lillian Hubbard; sisters in law: Julie and Helena Hubbard and brother in law: Louis Hubbard.
The family would like to say a special thanks to Carmella Jardine RN, Extramural, Dr. Watts and the Oncology Department.
Visitation will be held at Meadows Funeral Home, 150 Northwest Road, Sunny Corner on Thursday, May 26 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM.
