Richard David Field
Richard David Field, age 54, of Truro, died Thursday, February 10th, 2022 at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, as the result of a cardiac-related incident.
The son of Chuck and Harriet (Yorke) McCready, he was born in Truro on November 9th, 1967. With an easy laugh and a generous spirit, he was intensely loyal to family and friends as well as employers. He had a wide range of interests, from strumming a guitar to tinkering with things that needed fixing—including computers— to exploring the cosmos (and talking about it with anyone he could persuade to listen). His rich life experience included jobs as varied as electronic sales, scallop fishing, wireless internet installation, newspaper reporting and administrative support. Richard lived by his belief that we are all tiny, interconnected parts of a vast and fascinating universe, and shouldn’t take ourselves too seriously. The rather sudden departure of this kind and humble human spirit leaves us much bereft.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his true-life partner of 20 years, Lynn Cormier; a son Mason and a daughter Maddie, both at home; sisters Connie Carswell (Stephen) Ottawa, and Alyson McCready, Halifax; nieces and nephews Caitlin McCready-Carswell, Riley McCready, Matthew Carswell and Charlie McCready.
He was pre-deceased by his biological father Elmer Field Jr.
The family appreciates the resuscitation efforts of the EHS paramedic team and the staff of the emergency department of Colchester East Hants Health Centre. Organ and tissue donation and cremation have taken place in accordance with his expressed wishes. Arrangements are under the care of the Colchester Community Funeral Home in Truro. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations in his memory can be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada or a charity of choice.
