It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Mr. Riccardo DiGiacinto on January 26, 2022 at TBRHC.
Riccardo was born on August 23, 1934 in Bisenti, Teramo, Italy. At a young age, he moved to Switzerland where he earned a position as a winemaker. Later, in 1957, he moved to Canada and eventually settled in Thunder Bay where he began working in construction. An opportunity presented itself at the City of Thunder Bay Sewer and Water Department which he then worked his way up to Foreman and enjoyed working there until his retirement. He took great pride in his position and often received letters from homeowners thanking him for being so kind and thoughtful in their times of need.
In 1968, he married his loving wife Fiorina (nee D’Adamo) and together they raised 3 beautiful children.
Riccardo enjoyed bowling, hunting, and fishing as well as his beautiful garden which provided bounties of fresh vegetables to his family each year. He was often found making wine which his family and so many people enjoyed for many years. He was a very hard worker and even toward the end of his life he wanted to make sure his family was provided for.
He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife Fiorina, his three children Bruno DiGiacinto, Rosanna (Albert) Hathazi, Paula (Jon) Hari and his grandchildren Alexa, Robert, Josh, and Juliana; brothers Father Ralph DiGiacinto and Francesco (Antonietta) DiGiacinto.
He was predeceased by his parents Antonio and Rosa DiGiacinto.
Funeral services for the late Mr. Riccardo DiGiacinto will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 31, 2022, with family and friends gathering at St. Margaret’s Church with Rev. Ciaran Donnelly presiding. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to register on Riccardo’s page at www.sargentandson.com or call the funeral home 345-5351. Entombment will follow at St. Andrew’s Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum. Should family and friends so desire, a donation may be made to the charity of your choice.
