Obituary
Bob passed away peacefully at The Sandy Lake Personal Care Home on May 24, 2022.
Bob was born in Roblin Manitoba and grew up on the family farm located in the Castleavery District of Manitoba. His dad’s valley land is under Lake Of The Prairies and Bob worked as a surveyor for the Shellmouth dam one summer. Bob became an ordained United Church Minister in 1970 and served the church for 39 years in parishes in Alberta Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Bob was a true farm boy and was happiest when he was out driving farm machinery for local farmers. He could be seen every morning at the local coffee shop where folks could always count on him for a thoughtful insight, a joke, a kind word, or a smile that would always make folks feel better. Bob was a down to earth, exceptional pastor whose life became the best sermon that he ever preached. Bob loved to curl and could often be found at the local rink.
Bob will be sorely missed by his wife of 52 years Carol [ nee McGhee ], his daughter Eileen Hunter and her partner Mike Tremaine, his brother in law Rick McGhee, his sister in law Diana McGhee, his sister Marion Parker [ nee Hunter ], and his brother Ian Hunter [ Wanda } as well as his nieces and nephews and their families. ” Grandpa Bob ” is missed by his grandchildren Becky and Nic Krenn, Emma Greenwald [partner Jeremy ], Kyla Greenwald, and Matthew Tremaine. He was predeceased by his son Buster and his nephew Paxton and by his parents George and Florentine Hunter.
As per Bob’s wishes there will be no funeral or graveside service. Bob will be buried in the family plot at Chapel Lawn Memorial gardens which is beside John Blumberg golf course just outside of Winnipeg on number 1 highway so you can wave and say, ” Hi Bob ” on your next trip in to Winnipeg.
If there are tractors in Heaven
Then Heaven will surely be blessed
Because Bob would much rather be driving a tractor
Than having himself a rest.
