Obituary of Rene March
Rene March, beloved husband of Joan for 59 years, peacefully passed away on March 29, 2022 in Georgetown, On.
Rene was born in Old Perlican, Trinity Bay NL on July 15, 1930 and moved to Toronto at the age of 16. He attended Ryerson College, graduated in Mechanical Engineering Drafting followed by a successful career designing combine equipment and patents for Massey Ferguson. In 1962 he married Elizabeth Joan Abbott who had two children Bob and Larry. Joan and Rene would later add two boys Chris and Gord. Rene moved the family to a small farm in Ballinafad where his connection to the land brought him happiness throughout the years. Rene enjoyed many family outings especially summer vacations as well as winter skiing activities. He was active in tennis, curling, golf as well as a master player in bridge.
He was especially proud of his family. He is survived by his four sons Bob and wife Kathy, Larry and wife Vera, Chris and wife Paula, Gord and partner Lorena; and nine grandchildren, Scott, Ellen, Caitlin, Zachary, Griffin, Ethan, Aidan, Jackson and Katie. He is also survived by great grandchildren Carson, Agnes, Chase and April as well as nieces Linda, Shirley and Wendy. He is predeceased by his parents Levi John and Ethel and siblings Eric, Ralph, Lloyd, Vera, Cyril, and Jean.
Rene was greatly loved and will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be between 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM, Thursday, April 7th and funeral service at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 8th at Jones Funeral Home at 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown www.jonesfuneralhome.co . Rene will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery. The service will be available via live stream. Donations may be made to Georgetown Hospital by following the donation link on the website.
