Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Remedios Canlas Ramos at the Saint John Regional Hospital on July 29, 2022. Born in the Philippines, she was a daughter of the late Geronimo and Marciana (Macapagal) Canlas. She was the wife of the late Enrique Ramos. Remedios is survived by her children: Angie Fabia, Jessie Ramos (Maribel), Erlinda Ramos, and Enrique Ramos Jr. (Eden); her grandchildren: Lorie Anne, Lloyd Andrew, Luther Adam, Leo Angelo, and Catherine; and her great-grandson Joshua. Remedios was a sister to nine siblings and is survived by her sisters Herminia Lagrosa, Anita Nepomuceno, Leonila Gonzales, and Gertrudes Vaughn. Along with these family members, Remedios is also survived by her nieces and nephews living locally: Grace Johnson (Leon), Zarah Parena (Nicetas), John Gonzales (Nicole), Beverlee MacDonald (Shane), Jeremy Vaughn, Jacob Vaughn, Albert Canlas, and Heidi Baluyot; as well as by many nieces, nephews, and extended family members in the Philippines.
Remedios trained and worked as a Cosmetology Instructor in the Philippines before moving to Canada. She was a devoted Catholic, and she prayed often. She was always happy, and rarely seen without a big smile on her face. Remedios took great joy in gardening. Her greatest love was her family, she devoted her life to looking after them all, and was blessed to be Catherine’s caregiver for 8 years.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd, Saint John (506-646-2424). Visitation will be held on Tuesday August 2, 2022 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. The funeral service will be held in the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday August 3, 2022 at 2:00 pm.
