Obituary of Reginald Power
Pius “Reginald” Power passed away peacefully at Andrews of Stratford on Sunday, January 9, 2022; age 99 years! Born in Mermaid, Prince Edward Island on December 14, 1922. Beloved husband of 71 years to Laura (Fitzpatrick) Power.
Loving father of Janet (John) Bysterveldt, Paula (Robert) Smith, Clarence (Patricia) Power and Laurene (Kevin) Clow, Cherished Grampie to 13 grandchildren and Great-Grampie to 16. Pre-deceased by his parents Joseph and Margaret (Acorn) Power, brothers Emmett (Rita) Power, Gerald (Ruth) Power and sister Mary (Linus) Smith and son John Harvey in infancy.
Reg lived all his life in Mermaid working briefly at L.O. Kelly Garage in Bunbury before joining his father on the family farm.
He was deeply devoted to his faith, his family, and the land. He loved to socialize with family and friends, a good game of cards, fiddle music and the “Hoe-Down”. Reg was known to have an excellent memory and could recall many dates and memories for friends and family.
Resting at the Hillsboro Funeral Home, Stratford, due to current restrictions there will be no public visitation and private (invitation only) funeral service will be held.
Memorial donations may be made online to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation.
