Fulton, Reginald Bruce
Reg passed gently into God’s hands at Fenelon Court, Fenelon Falls on August 2, 2022
at the age of 92. Predeceased by wife, Elinor Louise Fulton (Bird), he will be fondly
remembered by their children Gordon (Chloë), Carol (Brian), Bruce (Sharon), Paul
(Jan), Joyce (Les) as well as grandchildren Adam, Heather, Peter, Kenneth, Daniel,
Katherine, Lauren, Andrew, Dana and great grandchildren Mary, Anna, Mason, Morley,
Ophelia, Jordan, Macauley, Ellie, Calvin, Charlie and Leon.
Born in Belleville and raised in Toronto, Reg began his career as an accountant and he
would recount the story of how he saved to buy his first car – all proceeds came from
picking dew worms in Peterborough.
Reg went on to become a teacher and, during the busy years of raising five children, he
spent many summers taking courses to obtain a B.A. from Queens University. Reg and
Elinor spent many summers travelling to the Maritimes, with five children in tow, to
explore his Nova Scotia roots and visit Elinor’s Peterborough Civic Hospital classmates
in the Annapolis Valley where she had nursed at a TB hospital in the early 50’s.
Camping, playing games with family, taking photos of landmarks and landscapes, and
showing slides of those travels were dear to Reg. Grandpa Fulton taught many of his
grandchildren how to play games like cribbage, stock ticker, wizard and euchre, but the
most important lesson was how to treasure quality time spent with loved ones.
Following Elinor’s passing in 2009, Reg entered into a loving marriage with Myrtle
Nadeau. They travelled, dined out and enjoyed activities at Palisade Gardens, Cobourg.
Louise Nadeau, Myrtle’s daughter, assisted the couple in numerous ways throughout
their relationship. Myrtle predeceased Reg in January 2022.
The family wishes to extend their deep gratitude to the staff at Fenelon Court for the
care they provided to Reg during the last two difficult years of a pandemic and,
especially, the last weeks of his life.
Family members are making plans to have a Celebration of Life in Cobourg on
September 24th at Calvary Baptist Church and an interment at Little Lake Cemetery in
Peterborough the same day. Contributions to Yonge Street Mission, or a charity of your
choice, would be appreciated by the family.
