Rebecca “Becky” Baltzer
1938-2022
It is with great
sadness that the family of Rebecca “Becky” Baltzer of East
Dalhousie, announces her passing on October 7, 2022 in Valley Regional
Hospital.
Born on June 19, 1938,
she was the only child of George and Helen Burrows. Becky spent her
childhood in Liverpool, where she was an avid basketball player in
high school.
Following graduation,
she travelled to Halifax to attend the Victoria General Hospital
School of Nursing but her plans changed when she met and married the
love of her life, Maurice “Moe” Baltzer. They began married
life in Halifax, relocating to Sydney shortly after the birth of their
two children. While originally a stay-at-home mom, later in life Becky
became a bookkeeper in Sydney and also again in Halifax, when they
returned to the city in the late 1970s. Becky actively participated in
the Y’s Menettes while living in Sydney and was known for
her cabbage rolls served at Y’s Men dinners. In her younger
years, she was an avid gardener, enjoyed yoga, bridge and sang in the
church choir. Upon retirement Becky and Maurice built a home in East
Dalhousie on a lovely river lot where nature was abundant and life a
bit quieter. Becky was a quiet person and enjoyed spending
time at home and quality time with family and a close circle of
friends.
Becky is survived by
her children; son, Lawrence (Lisa) and daughter, Elizabeth (Arthur
Dewan). She is also survived by a granddaughter, Sharon (Devlin
Patterson). She was predeceased by her parents, George and Helen
Burrows, her husband, Maurice Dimock Baltzer and brother-in-law,
Joseph Henry Baltzer.
We would like to thank
the ICU staff of Valley Regional Hospital for their exceptional care
and compassion.
Cremation has taken
place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In memory
of Becky, soak in the autumn sunshine and vibrant foliage. It was
Becky’s favourite time of year. Arrangements have been
entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.
