Raymond Tucker 1930 2021

Raymond Tucker, 91, of McNair Manor, Moncton, passed away
peacefully at his residence on Friday, December 10, 2021. Born in
Amherst, N.S. on May 25, 1930, he was the son of the late Hibbert and
Edith (Clayton) Tucker.
Ray is survived by his daughter, Alison (Edward Toczko) of
Moncton and his two adored granddaughters, Kristan (Dylan Maddix) of
Phoenix, AZ and Bethany Toczko of
Toronto. He also leaves a sister, Phyllis Bird, in Halifax,
as well as several nieces and nephews and extended family members.He
was predeceased by his wife, Corthell Tucker (née
Martin).
Following graduation from Amherst High School, he attended
Success Business College in Moncton. Ray had also studied piano at Mt.
Allison Univ. and attended Summer School there during his school years
in Amherst.
Ray joined Canadian National Railways in the office of the
Vice-President, Atlantic Region, in 1951. He was appointed Regional
Personnel Officer at Moncton and in 1972 was appointed Assistant to
Vice-President, Personnel and Labour Relations, Montreal. He became
Director of Compensation and Benefits for CN Rail and in 1987 was
appointed Senior Director Human Resources, CN Enterprises at the
Montreal Headquarters. He chose to take early retirement from CN in
1990. He and his family returned to Moncton in 1995.
His memberships included the Montreal Personnel Association,
Canadian and American Compensation Associations, The Conference Board
of Canada and Scouts Canada, Ottawa. In Moncton, memberships included
Moncton Gyro Club (which became the Moncton Friendship Club), Moncton
Probus Club, and he served on the Board of Moncton Community Concert
Association. He also served for several years on the Board of
Directors of Christian Action Federation of New Brunswick. Ray was a
member of Pine Needles Golf and Country Club, Beaver Curling Club and
the Centennial Lawn Bowling Club.
Ray’s church life was very important to him.
Through his life he was a member of several churches including the
Amherst Baptist Church, First Baptist Church and Brentwood Baptist
Church (charter member), Moncton and Lakeside Heights Baptist Church,
Pointe-Claire, QC. He was active in his churches and served in many
leadership roles, notably with Deacons, Missions, and Music among
others, and was a long-time member of church choirs.
Ray loved his family life and particularly the summers at the
family cottage at Parlee Beach, where he enjoyed swimming, lobster
dinners, and special times with family. He also enjoyed playing golf,
and enjoyed the friendships made at his men’s groups, and
his weekly bowling groups.
Special thanks to Ray’s McNair family, whose love
and kindness shown through companionship and care made McNair his
home.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 1:00
pm at First Baptist Church, 157 Queen Street, Moncton. A Service to
Celebrate and Honour Ray’s life will follow at 2:00 pm, the
Rev. Dr. Richard Jackson officiating. A reception will follow. The
Service will also be live-streamed. COVID protocols will be required,
including full vaccination, face masks, and social distancing.
Interment will take place at Fair Haven Memorial
Gardens.
In memory of Ray, memorial contributions to First Baptist
Church, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity of the
donor’s choice would be appreciated. Online condolences for
