In loving memory of Raymond Brian Freeland, 67 years, who passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 14, 2022, after a courageous battle with liver cancer.
Beloved husband of Lise (DesForges) Freeland. Loving father of Damien Freeland (Geneviève) and Adrien Freeland (Patricia). Cherished grandfather of Olivier, Elodie, Ariel, Félix, Xavier and Léa. Dear son of Elmer Freeland (predeceased) and Rita (Chaput). Dear brother of Deborah and Cheryl (Dave Yensen). Dear brother-in-law to Norm DesForges (Pierrette), Ron DesForges (Barb), Jeannette Labelle (Chuck), Denis DesForges (Colette), and Michelle Ockenden (James). He will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.
Ray worked for National Steel in the 70s and later moved to Elliot Lake to work for Rio Algom at the Panel Mine, Quirke 1 and 2, and then Stanleigh Mine. He returned to Capreol in 1990 and later began working for CN Rail, where he worked until he retired at 65yrs in 2019. Anyone who knew Ray, aka HotDog, Chief or Batman, knew his love for the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Blue Jays. He also enjoyed playing golf at any opportunity, especially with his boys.
Together with his wife, Ray would enjoy sitting on their deck playing WordFind, drinking a Timmies and watching their “baby” (robotic lawnmower) mowing the lawn. Thank you to doctors, nurses and staff at Health Sciences North, 6th floor south. And a heartfelt thank you to the EMS team for their great care and compassion.
