It is with broken hearts that the family of Raymond Maynard Kootstra announce his passing, on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at the age of 65. Beloved husband and best friend of Teresa. Loving father of Melissa and Tony Rondinelli, Marlene and Marc Guilbeault, and Lindsay Kootstra and Krista Elley. Cherished Pake of Addison, Renee, Matthew, Maya and Jack. Dear brother of Robert and June Kootstra, Marlene and John Hoekstra, Tracy and Paul Babcock, Henry and Diane Noordhof, Hendrik and Sarah VanderMeer, and Linda and Ken Atkinson. Much loved son of Patricia Kootstra, son-in-law of Jane VanderMeer and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father Wesley Kootstra, father-in-law Gerrit VanderMeer, brothers Rick and Fred Kootstra, brother-in-law Sidney VanderMeer and nephew Nicholas Hoekstra. Ray loved spending time with his family and friends who he cherished deeply. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A funeral service will be held at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Monday, January 2, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. Cremation will follow. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation (cheques only at the funeral home please).
