Obituary
It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend Raymond Hayward, 82 of Mt. Pearl on July 13, 2022. Ray was born in Bonavista on Nov 24th, 1939 to Isabella and Chesley Hayward. Ray is being welcomed home by his predeceased parents, brothers Wilson, Bob, Jack and sister Lillian.
Ray was a very kind, patient and caring person, who deeply loved his family and friends and was very dedicated to both his Church and community. He always had an ear to listen and a helping hand to lend. Ray held a special place in his heart for all the children in his life whom adored him as well. It was a regular sight when living on Thomey Place, to see the neighborhood kids flock to Ray when he came home from work, to be a part of whatever antics he had in store for them. He loved to fish and often took his boys, nieces and nephews fishing on weekends. Music was also very important to him; he played multiple instruments and sang in both the Anchormen Barbershop Chorus and the First United Church men’s choir. He was well liked and respected by many and will be missed dearly.
Visitation will be held at Barrett’s Funeral Home in Mt. Pearl on Monday, July 18th from 2 – 4 pm and 7 – 9 pm and a memorial service will be held at the First United Church in Mt. Pearl at 3pm on Tuesday July 19th.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Raymond’s name to the ALS society
