Obituary of Ray Schartner
It is with sadness we announce the passing of Raymond Charles Schartner on October 11, 2021, at the age of 79. Ray passed with family by his side in Drumheller hospital and into the loving arms of Jesus, his Lord and Savior.
Ray was born August 21, 1942, at home in Swalwell, AB to Tobe and Eva Schartner.
Ray was a sheet metal mechanic by trade but was a jack of all trades. Many people in the community have experienced his skills and handiwork. In earlier years when his sons played sports, he coached their teams and was their greatest supporter.
Ray installed furnaces and worked in the pulp mill in Grande Prairie, where they lived for many years before returning to Linden/Three Hills area. Ray worked in different aspects of the agriculture industry over the years from dairy farm, feedlots, and most recently seeding and harvesting. He found great pleasure in these employments.
Ray leaves to mourn his loss, his loving wife of 56 years Vivian(nee Maerz), their son Steve(Stacey), two grandsons Connor(Abby) and Craig, and their son Kevin.
He also leaves behind 3 brothers, Dellan(Edith), Tim(Ida), Randy(Jewel) and 2 sisters, AlmaJean(Bud) and Dawn(John).
Ray leaves 3 brothers-in-law Larry (Lorraine), Howard (Erica) and Les as well as numerous nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.
A graveside service for family/friends will be held at a later date.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Ray Schartner 2022..
