Ray Laker May 27th 1934 August 17th 2022

Peacefully Surrounded by family on August 17 at St Joseph’s Hospice in Sarnia Ray Laker passed away at the age of 88 years. Dearly beloved husband of Eileen for 68 years and the father of six children, Ken (Debbie), Dennis (Susan), Julia Grant, Norm (Stephanie), Ed (Heather), and Brian (Tracey). Ray will be missed by his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents George and Flossie of Strathroy, brother and sister Melvin and Eva, and son-in-law Fred Grant.
Ray was a long time truck driver and loved to share the stories of his road trip adventures. Ray spent his later years in life watching his favourite TV show Highway to Hell, Highway Rescue 401, putting together puzzles and spending time with family. He was also a member of Lakeshore Community Church in Brights Grove and involved with the seniors group activities for several years.
The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Ray’s nurse Debbie from Bayshore for the care and support she poured into him over the past year and a half as he struggled with his illness. Also a extra special thank you to the amazing staff and team, Dr. Maddison, Dr. MacSweeney and all the wonderful nurses and volunteers at St Joseph’s Hospice in Sarnia. Your love, care and compassion did not go unnoticed. Bless you for all you do.
Cremation has taken place and in keeping with Ray’s wishes, a service will be held at Lakeshore Community Church, 2815 Old Lakeshore Road, Brights Grove, Ontario, on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice (cheques only at the funeral home please).
