It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Ray Alvin Arlt on May 16, 2022 at the age of 87. Ray was born in Trail, BC a few minutes ahead of his identical twin Roy, on April 3, 1935. Raised in Rossland, the mountains forever called his name. He was an incredible skier and climber. Throughout the years, he climbed many peaks in BC and Alberta. His need for even higher challenges had him embark on a bucket list trip to explore the mountains in Nepal. If dad wasn’t climbing mountains or taking road trips in his trusty Westy, he was out taking picture of the natural world while hiking along trails. Often, he would be seen with a backpack on his back, camera around his neck and if lucky, a full bucket of huckleberries. Dad worked for BC Hydro for 35 years and served as an Auxiliary RCMP member for 25 years. After retiring, he joined the Naturalist Club and Camera Club and stayed active building many trails, bird boxes, counting rattlesnakes and protecting vulnerable wildlife. A remarkable singer, harmonica player, story teller and ultimate jokester, Ray will be greatly missed by so many. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Veda, four children, Lois (Craig), Lynn (Clayton), Lorna (Doug), Jim (Sherry), five grandchildren and one great-grandson, as well as extended family and friends. We know he is singing in Huckleberry Heaven with Uncle Roy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Ray Alvin Arlt May 16th 2022..
