Obituary
Randell Blake Thiessen was born to Ben and Helen Thiessen, July 15th, 1950, in Steinbach, Manitoba. He spent his early years in Ridgewood, outside of Steinbach before moving to Maryfield, Saskatchewan when he was 8 years old. Randell is survived by four siblings Garry, Gerald, Calvin, Travis and Sharon.
Randell spent most of his childhood on the family farm in Maryfield, Saskatchewan. He learned his work ethic on the farm feeding hogs, shoveling wheat and slinging bales. Church and spirituality were central to his upbringing in the Mennonite church. He taught Sunday school and led the church choir. He loved music and taught himself to play guitar and to sing as a child. It was at church that Randell fell in love with his future wife, Audrey Remple . The two were married October 26th , 1974.
Randell and Audrey spent their first years of marriage living in a house on the family farm before they purchased a farm from Alvie Adair in 1977. During those years they had 4 children, Jolene, Preston, Clint and Ryan. Randell was a family man and enjoyed spending time with his wife and children. He worked hard out on the fields from spring to fall and loved the winters when he would spend time in his wood shop building furniture. He also enjoyed creating his own family band and he, Audrey and the children often played in churches and summer festivals.
In 1996 Randell and Audrey sold their farm in Saskatchewan and moved to Okotoks, Alberta. Randell had always dreamed of moving out west and saw a future for their children in Okotoks. He spent the first years in Okotoks as a finish carpenter and construction site supervisor. Later on he became a realtor and spent the last years of his life selling real estate. Randell loved to interact with his clients. It was very important for him that housing deals were fair and he was valued by his clients for his wisdom and honesty. He received numerous awards as a realtor and leaves behind a loyal community of clients. Randell also loved to talk about his children with everyone he met and was very proud of their achievements.
Randell had a deep abiding faith in Jesus that grounded him throughout his life. Spending time in prayer, reading his Bible and living out his values of honesty, kindness and generosity were central to who he was.
Randell passed away August 5th, 2022, after a short battle with cancer. Randell is survived by his wife Audrey, his daughter Jolene, his son Preston and his family Mirjam, Joel, Jonna and Jacob, his son Clint and his family Kari, Elsie and Ben and by son Ryan and his family Tabitha, Olivia, Dominique and Alexa.
