Obituary
Randall James Strong 1942-2022
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of a dear brother and uncle, Randall (Randy) Strong.
Randy was born August 3rd, 1942 in Magrath, Alberta and passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital February 3, 2022 at the age of 79.
Randy is remembered as a kind and happy soul. He always had a smile on his face and a chuckle to share. He lived simply and had a kind word about everybody he knew. He enjoyed spending time with family and was always happy to be part of gatherings and celebrations. He had a love for the sport of hockey and always tuned in to the TV to watch a game. He also enjoyed live hockey and from time to time would attend a Lethbridge Hurricanes game.
Randy loved to cook and in his younger years was a camp cook in Fort MacMurray. He also enjoyed cooking for himself and did so until he was unable. Randy was a recipient of a kidney transplant on December 12th, 2012. It was our families Christmas miracle that year. He followed the advice of his doctors to the letter and had a full functioning kidney for 10 years to the day of his passing. This was another example of his willingness to take life in stride with a positive attitude and a grateful heart.
Randy worked hard all his life and retired from Century Sales in 2006. Randy had close friends who’s friendship lasted his lifetime. He enjoyed the time spent with his friends whether it be travelling or just going for a beer together. He also enjoyed spending time at the casino’s both locally and on his travels. He would only play the nickel slot machines but always seemed to leave with more than he spent. He was proud to share how he could turn $5.00 into $20.00 or more. His favorite travels included trips across the border to Montana, Nevada, Utah and South Dakota and he always had a story to share about his adventures. He had a love for Country music and enjoyed watching performances on the TV.
Randy is survived by his younger brother George (Kendall) Strong. His nieces Diane Sparks and her partner Larry White, Roxanne (Kirk) Weeks. His uncle Lee Bullock and his cousin Nelda-Lee (Robert) Delany.
He was pre-deceased by his Father and Mother Bud (William) and Zelma Strong as well as his Sister in-law Perky (Priscilla) Strong. Along with Aunts, Uncles and cousins.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at the Magrath Pioneer Cemetery in Magrath, AB.
Dedication of grave will be given by Corry Tolman. Donations can be made in Randy’s name to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
A Quiet Prayer
A loving nature,
A heart of gold,
The very best
This world could hold.
Never selfish, always kind,
These are the memories
You left behind
A silent thought
A quiet prayer,
For a special person
In God’s care.
