Raeburn-Gibson Mary Louise ‘Lou’ 2022

Raeburn-Gibson, Mary Louise ‘Lou’
June 9, 1936 – July 10, 2022
Mary-Louise Raeburn-Gibson (née Threndyle) passed away in Meaford, Ontario after enjoying the afternoon on the shores of Georgian Bay with members of her family including two of her great grandchildren.
She was predeceased in 1999 by her loving husband the Reverend Ian Alexander Raeburn-Gibson. She is remembered with love by all her family – her sons Richard Raeburn-Gibson (Stephanie), Tim Raeburn-Gibson (Kimberley) and daughters Peggy Raeburn-Bell (Dean), and Susan Raeburn-Gibson (Abdelkader).
“Lou” as she was lovingly known to family and friends, adored her many grandchildren as well as their partners, Rylee (Charlotte), Savannah, Ian (Leanne), Taylor (Liene), Katya, Haven, Sydney (Gryphon), Rowan (Kelsey), Aicha (Eli), Nadia (Rob), Zacariah (Ashley). She was especially proud to be a great grandmother to August, Louie and Owen. Lou also loved and was loved by her extended family including brothers Ken and Doug, sisters Rose Marie and Shirleyan as well as many nieces and nephews in the Threndyle, Polzin, Walker and Doerr families.
Mary Louise was born in Hanover, Ontario and received her nursing qualifications at the Victoria Hospital School of Nursing in London, Ontario. Following their marriage in 1957, Ian joined the Canadian Air Force as a Chaplain and the family was subsequently posted in Winnipeg, Germany, Vancouver Island and Kingston. Lou and Ian moved to Meaford in 1981 when Ian became the Minister at Knox Presbyterian Church. Lou was an Elder at this church, a devoted member over the past 40 years and made many close friends in the church and broader Meaford community.
Mary-Lou lived an amazing, joyful and blessed life! She loved spending time with her many friends and large family. She swam in Georgian Bay every summer, skied the local trails every winter, and enjoyed family cycling adventures. She loved to travel and even in recent years hiked in Iceland, the east coast and the American southwest. We were all so fortunate to have been able to laugh with her, know her love, learn from her wisdom, and be inspired by her grace, humility, and example of a life well lived. We love and miss you.
