Rachel Marie Leblanc Monday November 28th 2022

In loving memory of Rachel Leblanc, age 42, who passed away peacefully with her loved ones by her side on November 28th, 2022, after a courageous battle with Huntington’s Disease.
Cherished partner of Matthew Brosseau. Loving and dedicated mother of Isabella Chevrette. Dear sister of Jennifer Burgess (Ray Martel) predeceased, and Chantael Twain. Proud aunt of Amber and Brittney. Beloved granddaughter of “mémé” Rita Leblanc and “pépé” Sylvio Leblanc both predeceased. Treasured lifelong friend of Benita Thibault (Mike Rodney). Dear niece of Deb Yaw (Al) and special cousin of Joey
predeceased. Rachel will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her many close friends, relatives, nieces, nephews, and cousins, especially Deanna, Chad, Ben (Kathryn), Elle, and Joey.
Rachel was born November 24th, 1980, in Sudbury, Ontario, to Kimberly Burgess and Donald Leblanc, both predeceased. As a child, she loved spending time with her family and friends, especially while camping at lake Wabagishik and the Vermillion river. She also enjoyed writing and had a knack for poetry. From an early age, Rachel had a profound love and appreciation for nature, and she was always happiest when outdoors. Rachel was an old soul filled with kindness and optimism. She genuinely enjoyed and valued the simple things in life, like going for long walks outside and eating her favourite meals. She was a striking example of strength and resilience. At age 23, Rachel tested positive for Huntington’s disease, a genetic neurodegenerative disease. Despite the adversity she faced early in and throughout her life, she lived with a relentless enthusiasm for life and an optimistic mindset. She was known for her bright, bubbly personality and positive attitude. Rachel was an empath with a genuine concern for the well-being of others, whether it was loved ones or strangers. She was never quick to judge and always accepted people for who they were. What Rachel loved the most was spending quality time with her closest family and friends. Knowing her time was limited, she was always sure to live her life to its fullest and enjoy every moment. She knew the importance of gratitude and never took anything for granted. She greatly cherished her daughter and devoted herself to being an extremely nurturing, patient, and loving mother. Rachel was loved by many and had a way of touching the hearts of everyone she knew with her distinctive cheerful demeanor and positive attitude. In addition to Rachel’s close friends and family, she will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by the many people she met and made an impact on throughout her life.
We would like to express our sincere and profound appreciation for the love, care, and compassion of Rachel’s extended family of personal support workers, nurses, and doctors on the 8th floor of the North Tower at Health Sciences North. The comfort and peace that Rachel was able to have towards the end of her life would not have been possible without you; thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
At Rachel’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Those who wish to express sympathy are encouraged to consider donating to the Huntington’s Society of Canada in honour of Rachel. Rachel was passionate about spreading awareness about Huntington’s Disease and always hoped for a cure or treatment. The Huntington’s Society of Canada funds medical research and works with health and social services professionals to enable them to better serve those with Huntington’s disease.
