It is with deep sadness that the family of Diane Helen Quinn announce her passing on Saturday, March 26, 2022. Diane is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Jerry, and sons, Jay Quinn (Marcie) & Tyler Quinn (Laura); her cherished granddaughters, Zoe, Avery, Molly, Mya, Aria & Elly; and fury friend Benson. She is also survived by her 11 brothers and sisters, Brenda Van Wielingen (Bob), Len Schurman (Lorraine), Donna Graham, Blair Schurman (Liz), Lyle Schurman (Dorothy), Karen Fischer (Pat), Suezette Reichert (Brent), Jim Schurman, Cindy Schurman (Bill), Pamela Schurman (Michael), Warren Schurman (Sheila), and many in-laws, nieces, nephews and extended family members, as well as dear friends. Diane was predeceased by her parents, Hilda and Pius Schurman; an infant brother, James; brother-in-law, Rick Graham.
Diane was born in Macklin, Saskatchewan and spent her first 18 years on the family farm near Denzil before moving to Edmonton, AB to attend Business College. While working as a Flight Attendant for Pacific Western Airlines, Diane met the love of her life and spouse of 52 years, Jerry. Shortly after getting married in 1969, they moved to Kitchener-Waterloo, ON where son Jay was welcomed in 1974. The family moved to Calgary, AB in 1975 and son Tyler was welcomed in 1978. Family was the priority in her life, she enjoyed staying at home to raise her sons for a number of years. During that time, she volunteered for her Church, community, and school. She later worked part-time for the Calgary Health Region before retiring in 2005.
Diane enjoyed spending time with her family and golfing. She was also fond of travelling to many great destinations, of which some of her favourites were Maui, Italy, Ireland, a Paul Gauguin Tahiti Cruise, and spending warm winters at their home in Arizona.
Diane and Jerry relocated from Calgary to Kelowna, BC in 2013. A year later in 2014, Diane was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, which she fought for over 8 years. Diane was very appreciative of all the love, support, and prayers that she received from her family, in-laws, and many friends during her illness. We are very grateful for the excellent care she received at the Kelowna Cancer Centre, with special thanks to Dr Mirchandani, Dr Klammer, the chemo and clinical trial nurses, and the volunteers.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Diane’s memory can be made to Ovarian Cancer Canada.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at 10:30 am, at St. Charles Garnier Parish, 3645 Benvoulin Rd, Kelowna, BC. Reception to follow at the Harvest Golf Club, 2725 K.L.O. Rd, Kelowna, BC. The family warmly welcomes all to attend.
