EWING, Phyllis Madeline (nee Roberts) – It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Phyllis at Norfolk General Hospital surrounded with love by her family in her 96th year. Predeceased by her husband of 64 years William Ewing (2012). A lifelong resident of Vanessa and the only child of the late Charles and Ferne Roberts. Loving mother of Katherine Gleason (and Tom), Suzanne Maskell (and Alex). Grandmother to Craig Gleason (and Marie), Christa Wilson (and Adam), Jordan, and Alexis Maskell. Great Grandmother to Claudia, Dylan, and Maya Gleason, and Ben Wilson. Phyllis was a member of the Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church formerly a member of the Vanessa United Church and along with her husband, owned and operated the Vanessa General Store for 23 years before retiring. She proceeded to work with her husband for the next 12 years , who was a Life Underwriter for London Life in Hamilton. They both retired in 1990 and spent the next 18 years travelling to Florida for six months in the winter. The family would like to thank the staff on Floors 3 & 4 at Norfolk General Hospital for their care and compassion. Family and friends will be received at Thompson-Mott Funeral Home on Monday January 2, 2023, from 10:30-11:30am. A private family service will follow officiated by Rev. Dean Adlam. If desired, donations may be made to Juravinski Cancer Centre or Norfolk General Hospital.
