Phyllis Irene Robinson of Woodstock NB passed away on Saturday October 22, 2022, at her residence.
She was born in Peel NB on November 18, 1935.
She is survived by her sons Mark (Debra) and Keith (Tammy), grandsons Gordon and Logan and great granddaughter Justice, chosen daughter May (Ernie) Atkinson and family. Sister Kathryn Bubar of Woodstock, sister-in-law Darlene Rideout.
She was predeceased by her husband Clair Robinson, daughter in law Lois Robinson, parents Frederick and Isabel (Hallett) Rideout, sister Eleanor Rideout, brother Weldon Rideout and niece Tamara Campbell, brother-in-law Weldon Bubar and in laws Verrian and Bertha Robinson.
Phyllis graduated at Hartland High School in 1954 and NB Teachers College in 1955. She taught school 4 years in Carleton County, her first school was 8 grades in a one room school, she taught 5 years in Sunbury County, two years in Quebec. She also taught in Sorest, Germany when posted there with Canadian Forces. She followed Clair and his postings living in Ontario, New Brunswick, Quebec and Nova Scotia. Clair would go ahead, and Phyllis and family would move to the new posting two to three months later with Clair’s help. When posted at CFB Halifax and CFB Petawawa, Phyllis taught Sunday School. After army life they settled in Jacksonville and Phyllis taught Sunday School at the Jacksonville United Church for many years. Due to no jobs in teaching, Phyllis taught Kindergarten for 13 years.
Her interests were baking, reading, knitting and genealogy. She was a member of the St James United Church, N.B. ANAVETS unit 95, Hartland Legion and Ladies Auxiliary Branch 24 and the Conservative Party of Canada. She was presented the Queens Jubilee Diamond medal in September 2010, a certificate of merit from the Conservative Party of Canada and a certificate of appreciation from ANAVETS.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday October 26, 2022, at Carleton Funeral Home, 337 Lockhart Mill Road, Jacksonville NB from 5 to 7PM.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday October 27, 2022, at 2PM from the Carleton Funeral Home Chapel, with interment at Woodstock Rural Cemetery.
For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Phyllis, the family has suggested United Church, ANAVETS Unit 95, Library, Hartland Legion Branch 24 or Extra Mural
