FERGUSON, Phyllis Catherine
“Philly” – It is with great sadness
that we announce the peaceful passing of Phyllis Catherine
“Philly” Ferguson, age 91 of Skye Glen, Nova Scotia at the
Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital on Saturday, January 15,
2022. Born in East Skye Glen on May 17, 1930, Phyllis was the daughter
of the late John Murdock and Annie Catherine (MacPhee)
MacInnis.
Phyllis was married to the love of her life, Donald John
(D.J.) Ferguson on November 16, 1953. They moved to Ottawa where she
was employed at the School Board and then the Sears Department Store.
After retiring they moved home to Skye Glen. She was a loving wife,
caring and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and
friend. She was a wonderful cook and baker. Phyllis was a member of
the Stewart United Church and life time member of the UCW. Phyllis
enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed playing
cards, watching her TV shows and going to community events. She took
great pride in the activities and accomplishments of her grandchildren
and great-grandchild.
Phyllis is survived by and will be dearly missed by her son,
Kennie (Melody), East Skye Glen; grandchildren, Lacey (Derek), Alanna
(Trevor); great-granddaughter, Madison. She is also survived by her
sisters, Dolena MacKinnon, Jessie MacKinnon, Edna MacLennan, Janet
Scott, Willena (Peter) Parker; brother, Jackie (Marie) MacInnis;
sister-in-law, Laura Bell MacInnis as well as many treasured nieces
and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Donald John in 2014;
infant son; sisters, Mae MacKay, Margaret Campbell, Laura MacInnis,
Shirley Morrison; brothers, Murdock MacInnis, Stewart MacInnis,
Morrison MacInnis; sister-in-law, June MacInnis; brothers-in-law, Neil
MacKay, Neil Campbell, Hector MacKinnon, Lauchie MacKinnon, Gordon
MacLennan, Angus Scott and Jackie Morrison; nephews, Sheldon MacKay,
Graham MacKay; niece, Deborah MacInnis; grand-niece, Ally MacLennan;
grand-nephew, Jason Campbell.
The family wishes to express thanks and gratitude to Dr. Rhea
MacDonald, Dr. MacLaughlin. Dr. Ritter, Lori Ann, Lindsey, Bonnie,
Amanda, and the staff of Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital for
the wonderful care, kindness and compassion given to
Phyllis.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m.,
Wednesday July 13, 2022 in Stewartdale Cemetery . In lieu of flowers,
memorial donations can be made In Memory of Phyllis to the Stewart
United Church or the Stewartdale Cemetery. Words of comfort may be
