The death of Phoebe Anne Elizabeth Sherrard (Hinchey), wife of Ronald David Sherrard, of Derby Junction, and more recently of Losier Hall, Miramichi, occurred at her residence on February 2, 2022 at the age of 83.
Born in Boiestown on July 29, 1938, Phoebe was the daughter of the late Frederick and Marguerite (Curtis) Hinchey.
In addition to her husband, Phoebe is survived by her children, Roxanne Mullin (Edward Vautour), Karen Sherrard, Brent (Valerie) Sherrard all of Miramichi, and Ron Sherrard (Dr. Kiran Pure) of Dartmouth, NS, grandchildren Jodie, Quenten, Terry, Rebecca, Meredith, Dylan, Michelle, and Bryan, and great grandchildren Meghan, Bryson, Kailyn, Peyton, Riley, Kaitlyn, Jack, Saydee, and Albert.
Besides her parents, Phoebe was predeceased by sisters Connie (Robert) Hooper, and Lillian (Thomas) Jardine, brother Murray (Edith) Hinchey, and stepfather Frank Jardine.
Phoebe had a long career as a Ward Clerk at Miramichi Hospital, where she was greatly admired and respected by her colleagues. Through the years she attended Lower Derby Baptist Church, and was known as a woman who lived her faith through countless acts of kindness and caring. Phoebe had many friends and a devoted family. She possessed a sharp wit and took genuine pleasure in simple conversations with a few laughs. She was gracious and humble, and careful not to speak ill of others. As an animal lover, Phoebe was always happy to share stories about how unusually intelligent her dogs were. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, and baking. Phoebe kept an immaculate house and welcomed all who made their way to her door. She was very, very dear to us, and will be deeply missed.
The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation for the care provided to Phoebe by the staff at Losier Hall. She was treated with dignity and genuine affection during her residence at Kelly Court. Thank you.
In Celebration of the life of Phoebe Sherrard, there will be a brief graveside gathering on Saturday, June 11 at 2:00 pm at Lower Derby Baptist Church, 5332 Hwy 108, Lower Derby.
Immediately following the burial, the family will receive visitors downstairs in the church for a time of remembrances and refreshments.
Those who wish to honour Phoebe’s memory may do so through a donation to the SPCA or any other charity of their choice.
Arrangements are in the care of Davidson’s Funeral Home.
