9, 2022
It is with heavy hearts that the children of Philomena Meade,
announce her passing at the Placentia Health Centre on August 9, 2022,
at the age of 87.
She is predeceased by husband Ned (2010); parents William and
Mary Griffiths; brothers Patrick, Bill, Ben, Leo, Andrew, Edward and
Ron; sisters-in-law Bernadette and Cecelia; and special son-in-law
Francis Webber. Also remembering her mother and father-in-law Robert
and Lucy Meade; sisters-in-law Hannah, Lucy, Mary, Carmel, Thomasine,
Monica, Bernadette and Sylvia; and brother-in-law
Adrian.
She will be lovingly remember by her 6 children Ned
(Darlene), Marylou (Francis – deceased), Sheila (Rick),
Wanda (Dave), Wayne (Margie) and Rob (Daisy); her grandchildren Ryan,
Noah, John, Grace, Matthew and Claire; and sister-in-law Marg
Griffiths. Also leaving to mourn her loss, the Meade
Family: Jack (Patricia), Gordon (Rose Marie), Eddy and Bob
(Jane).
Mom was a kind, caring and giving person who also put the
needs of her family before her own. Mom faced every
challenge in life with courage and faith in God. She will be
remembered as a selfless, faithful wife, mother and grandmother, who
always had a smile even when times were difficult. Mom was a
woman of great Catholic faith and it’s this faith that saw
her through dark times in her life and she instilled this
faith in us, her children, leading by example and always choosing to
do the right thing.
Special thanks to Dr. Hiba and the nursing staff at Placentia
Health Centre for the exceptional care and compassion shown to
mom.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Maher’s Funeral
Home, Placentia. Visitation to take place Thursday, August
11th from 7pm to 9pm, and Friday, August
12th from 2pm to 5pm and 7pm to 9pm.
Mass of Christian Burial to take place at Holy Rosary Church,
Freshwater on Saturday, August 13th at
10:30am. Interment to follow at Dermot McGettigan Memorial
Cemetery, Southeast Placentia.
