Philip Alexander Semple
December 5, 1927 – February 27, 2022
It is with profound sadness that the Semple family announces the loss of Philip, on February 27, 2022. He is survived by his wife Idola, after 52 years of marriage; his daughter Sharon, his son Walker (Danielle), and the apple of his eye, his granddaughter Skye.
Phillip was born, raised and spent his formative years in Hopetown, Guyana, South America. He is the third of twelve children (10 whom are living) and are spread around the world. There are far too many relatives to mention or to list, but since the Semple family have strong communication ties, they will all be made aware of and informed of Philip’s passing.
Philip migrated to England in 1953, learned his trade as a Tool and Die Maker, and travelled as a trouble shooter to Holland, Scotland and other European countries. He migrated to Canada in 1963 where he continued his trade, until he was drafted to work in the United States in 1967. He was employed by General Motors, Tonawanda Engine Plan, Supervisor of Tool and Die Makers in the Manufacturing Engine Department until his retirement.
As a member of the Masonic Order, he is a past Worshipful Master of Mt. Olive Lodge #1, F. & A. M., Prince Hall in Hamilton, On. He is also a 33˚ Grand Inspector General in the United Supreme Council, Northern Jurisdiction in the Prince Hall Grand Lodge.
Family and friends will be received at Smith’s Funeral Home, 1167 Guelph Line, (one stoplight north of Q.E.W.) in Burlington on Friday, March 4, 2022 from 6-9 p.m. and Saturday, March 5, 2022 from 9-10 a.m. A Memorial Service will take place immediately following from 10 – 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the ICU at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington or the Halton Independent Dialysis Clinic in Oakville Trafalgar Hospital would be greatly appreciated by the family.
