PETER MICHAEL SHEA
February 3, 1972 – August 21, 2022
Peter Michael Shea passed away peacefully on August 21st, 2022, at age 50, in his home with his wife and life partner of 16 years, Juliet Dunn. After a late diagnosis, Peter found himself battling cancer for close to 4 years.
Peter was unfortunately pre-deceased by his mother Kathryn Shea (age 71), in February 2016. He is survived by his father Michael Shea, sister Heather Shea (Thomas Lanners), and his 2 nephews Benny and Joel Lanners.
Peter was an extremely talented and passionate musician (drummer, piano player, and singer) and was the co-founder, with Juliet, of the Niagara Jazz Festival, created in 2014. His endless support for the festival, and love of jazz kept him involved to the very end of his life. Peter enjoyed performing and teaching as a drummer, piano player, and singer for many festivals, concert halls, and special events from Niagara to Hong Kong and beyond and touched so many lives along the way.
In loving memory of Peter, Juliet sincerely thanks all our family, friends, and the jazz community as well as Peter’s medical team here in Niagara and also in Hamilton at the Juravinski Cancer Centre.
