Peter Laurence Melvyn Backs (Mel)
February 3, 1930 passed February 1, 2022
Mel is survived by his wife of 69 years, Rose, 3 children, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Mel was a lumber trader with his father owning Willa Lumber Company, Tall Timber Lumber Company and LB Lumber. He then decided to make a change and worked for Cascade Imperial Mills until his retirement and a move to Lasqueti Island.
Mel enjoyed in his early years hunting, fishing, gold panning, car rallies, gardening and always social visiting. In his retirement years his life on Lasqueti with Rose was full of adventures.
A thank you goes out to his granddaughter Barb Hands for being his support these last few years.
There will be no service for Mel at this time, instead please raise a glass of his favorite beverage, “Red Wine”, in his memory
