PETER QUIERING
August 14, 1935 – December 21, 2022
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Peter Quiering, loving brother, father, opa and friend.
Peter leaves to mourn, his siblings Gerhard (Maria) and Kaethe Toews; children Elly (Murray Phillips), Siegfried (Shelly), Elfrieda and Heinz; grandchildren Alan, Adam (Tiffany), Steven, Laney and Cali (Brett); as well as many extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Franz and Margarete, wife Helene, granddaughter Cassie and many in-laws.
Peter was born in Mariental, Molotschna Colony, Ukraine. Following WW2, he and his family, among many Mennonites, fled Europe for Paraguay. In his early twenties, he immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada where he married Helene and created a beautiful life together with their four children. He was baptized at Springfield Heights Mennonite Church on May 23, 1999.
Peter lived a long and full life. His life was filled with love of family and friends. They would gather at his cottage to enjoy summers together. Swimming at “The Rocks”, boating and waterskiing, four-wheeler adventures in the woods…
Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Boniface and Concordia Hospitals.
