Peter was always a hard worker, and could always find work. Opportunities brought him right across the country working with the Armed Forces, on the draggers from Nova Scotia, the whaling ships in BC, the mine in St. Lawrence and finishing up his career as utility worker at the US Memorial Health Centre. However, his greatest hobby was rabbit and moose hunting. His journals tell great stories of the many adventures he took. One could say Peter was a people person, he loved to talk to people and it was most certain wherever he went someone knew him. Although Peter’s life was not without many hardships, accidents and illness; hardship never kept him down. A saying often shared about Peter is, “There is a difference between Peter and a human being.”
“A Newfoundlander”
Born and raised,
that was me,
a Newfoundlander,
proud to be.
In Life I shared
my life and glories,
but now I’m gone
think back to stories.
When you feel the coastal air,
just close your eyes
because I am there.
I’m in the breeze
for you to feel,
and I’m in your hearts
to help you heal.
Remember me
and time we shared,
I thank you all
who loved and cared.
