Peter John Gibson, age 66, of Stratford, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer at his residence surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, July 7, 2022. Born In Wingham, son of the late Gerald and Isobel (MacTavish) Gibson. Peter is survived by his true love and soulmate Catherine “Kate” Norene Avery of 40 years. Proud and loved father of Pam (Tom) Egli, Mark Gibson and Scott Gibson (Stephanie Balfour). And the best grandfather of Evan, Liam, Maeve, Kohen and Kash. Peter will be fondly remembered by his siblings; Mary (Maurice) Douma, Don (Cathy) Gibson, Peggy (Bill) Aitchison and his brothers and sisters-in-law Liz (Doug) Ward, Pat (Bill Taylor), John (Idis) Avery, Bill Avery, Jim (Anne) Avery, Lillian (John) Britton, Mike (Nancy) Avery, Phillip (Jennifer) Avery, Marion (Rob) Canning and his many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, Peter was predeceased by his father and mother in-law Ray and Kit Avery and brother-in-law Bob Lewis. Peter had an extremely rewarding career with Bell Canada. In keeping with Peter’s wishes, cremation has taken place, a memorial service will take place on Monday, July 11, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with interment in Avondale Cemetery. Following the interment celebration of Peter’s life will be held from 3-5:00p.m., in the reception centre of the funeral home.
