Obituary for
Perry Norman Kohler

Kohler, Perry Norman. April 29, 1977 – July 9, 2022. It is with great sorrow we announce the unexpected passing of Perry Norman Kohler after undergoing heart surgery in the QEII, Halifax. Perry was born in Corner Brook, NL to Joan Kohler and the late Peter Kohler.

Besides his father, Perry was predeceased by his grandparents, Norman and Mary Parsons of Bryant’s Cove, NL and Martin and Anneliese Kohler of Talheim, Germany.

He leaves to mourn his mother, Joan Kohler; brother, Michael Kohler (Jamesie Coolican); beloved nieces, Annaliesa and Campbell Kohler to whom he was affectionately known as “Uncle Lego”; his loving cats, Ariel and Angel; his aunts, uncles and cousins in Newfoundland and Germany, as well as a large circle of devoted friends.

At the age of 1 1/2 years, Perry moved to Valley, Colchester County and it became his forever home. He graduated from the Cobequid Educational Centre and attended St. F.X. University. He devoted his life unselfishly to helping others and inspired many others to do the same. He was, for a brief time, a member of the Valley Volunteer Fire Department until failing health dictated otherwise. He was a proud and devoted member of the Kinsmen Club of Bible Hill with whom he worked tirelessly up to his death. Perry loved his friends’ children and would play with them for hours and was known by many of them as Uncle Perry. Perry shared a love of Dungeons and Dragons, Star Wars, Marvel and Lego. He was an avid skier and had an interest in cars volunteering in all activities where needed or where he could lend a hand.

Sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses of the QEII – Halifax Infirmary. A special thank you to Dr. Jeremy Wood, Perry’s cardiologist of 25 years, Dr. Sean Taylor and Dr. Schmidt. Our gratitude to the dedicated nurses, especially Walter Somer is immeasurable. We would also like to thank Tanya Bailey, Kara Wood and Perry’s other close friends for their love and devotion in helping him deal with the challenges he faced in his declining health.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kinsmen Club of Bible Hill at 36 Douglas St., Truro, NS B2N 2E7 or the Colchester Food Bank, 580 Prince St, Truro, NS B2N 1G3.

In keeping with Perry’s wishes there will no visitation or funeral service.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St, Truro, NS. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.ColchesterCommunity.com
